Stockings stride ahead (1 Comment)

I found this article on the net. It is from Australia, so when they speak about stockings, I think they mean pantyhose.

SHE’S got legs – and she knows how to clothe them. Brisbane model Jasmine Yarbrough, 22, had onlookers weak at the knees when she slipped her legs into a pair of silky, multi-coloured stockings.

Designers have given this season’s hosiery a fun new look, with no colour or design off-limits as stockings enjoy a resurgence in popularity.

Karen Wilson, from Paddington lingerie and fashion store Boudoir Chic, said this winter was all about “the legs”, with more women using stockings to dress up an outfit.

“If you’ve got a plain black dress on, having a very fancy pair of tights actually enhances your look,” she said.

Ms Wilson said big-name brands including Wolfords, Fogal and Giorgio Armani were steering away from dull and boring in favour of bright colours, geometric patterns and crystals.

“People were looking at just the normal opaque or sheer tights but now they are saying, ‘Have you got something different for me?’,” she said.

And it’s not just young fashion lovers wanting to give their legs a makeover.

“I’ve had people in their 50s and 60s come in to buy tights, and they are very adventurous with colour,” Ms Wilson said.

David Jones apparel, footwear and accessories group manager Colette Garnsey said footless tights, patterned hosiery, fishnets and coloured were walking out the door.

“Traditionally hosiery had been in decline for the younger market due to the trend towards bare legs. The new fashion hosiery has brought younger customers back,” she said.

“Not only are they a flattering way to stay warm this winter, they look great.”

Vintage stockings (2 Comments)

Why do we like vintage porn? The pictures are low in quality, they are mostly black and white, and the ladies are properly WAY over 60 now. But still there is something very erotic about this fetish. One thing is for sure, and that is that the stockings back then was JUST they way they are supposed to be today. Fully fashioned with backseams and reinforcements. For those of you who doesn’t know, FF (Fully Fashioned) means that the stockings are NON-stretch, fits the leg perfectly and is made of Nylon.

The site I am showing you, has lots of vintage nylon pics, and are really worth looking into!

When will they come to their senses? (0 Comments)

Perusing my local rag today, in the entertainment section, there’s a story about the dames of the late & lamented Sex & The City. But what struck me was how *so-late 1990s* the pic looked. There are the four of them - Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha - sitting there in dresses with, wait for it - bare legs - for all to see. I just thought, *ooh, that’s so then!* And I can only imagine (or hope) that hosiery will make a big comeback, if only to revolt against the bare-legged boredom & dreck of the past 5-10 years. But then no one said women who follow fashion were terribly bright.

White stockings; sexy or scary? (2 Comments)

As in the early days, the black stockings are the most common stockings among stockings wearers. Red stockings are the “hot and wild” stockings colour and tan/brown stockings are for the more neutral wearers, but what about white stockings?
Babe in white stockings

There seem to be a love/hate relationship when it comes to white stockings among stockings lovers. Some find it incredible sexy, and some find it scary ugly! It can be innocent or make the women look like a schoolgirl. On black or tanned women they do stand out and produce a “hard to miss” contrast. Whether worn by nurses, schoolgirls or brides in real life or fantasy scenarios. Another thing is that some people claim that the shape of the leg is germane to the choice. As black has a “slimming” effect and white has a “thickening

Anyway, you can choose yourself

Opera Stockings (0 Comments)

My intention with this site has always been to show you the world of nylons - stockings and pantyhose, and also “educate” and keep you updated with this great fetish
Today I’m going to talk about Opera Stockings. We have all seen the beautiful fully-fashioned ‘opera’ stockings worn by dancers in the typical early 1950s movie musicals. This was before the days of stretch yarns and pantyhose so they must have been stockings.

Opera hose were the very, very long stockings worn by professional dancers before the advent of pantyhose. They had a very narrow welt and were held up with garter belts at the waist with very short garters or, probably most often, hand stitched to an elastic brief after being donned. Watch an early 1950s movie musical and you will see dancers wearing opera hose.

Today, opera length seems to have come to mean simply hose that are longer than typical. In no way do they approach the length of the original opera stockings.

Opera length stockings were pinned to the inside of the panty. In an interview with Ann Miller, (the raven-haired, long-legged actress and machine-gun tap dancer from the golden age of movie musicals)… she talked in length about how they had to pin their stockings to the inside of their panties to keep the tops from showing. They were also so sheer that when the ladies danced they stretched and runs were very frequent. They had to make many changes in their stockings during the shooting of the dance scenes.

Women, do something! (0 Comments)

Why so many women spend so much money to impress men with push-up bras and dangerous implant operations, when they could “own” us by donning stockings. The comfort argument doesn’t balance when implant operations have to be painful. Why be sexy on the upper half of the body, and gross men out with bare legs. I am so fed up with Hollywood’s depiction of sluts wearing stockings and the ugly bare-foot fashion. Even models in tights would be preferable. It’s much sexier than bare legs. Modern women don’t understand the power of their feminine charms, and don’t seem to know how to deploy their feminine assets.

I wonder how the wearing of stockings could be made to look more glamorous, sophisticated (and feminine certainly), but also more intelligent. And I, like you, wonder where or whether we may ever see such a role model for modern women. In a slight way Madonna tried, but she is far too controversial to fulfil that kind of role. What we need is a successful model like a Hilary Clinton or Oprah :) (I mean someone with respect who really does) or maybe one of the big Paris houses to hire one such as I don’t know, say an Elizabeth Hurley, to make stockings appealing and attractive. Maybe it’s a matter of marketing, but you have hit on a problem we need to address.

This is how it should look like:

Dangling shoe (0 Comments)

Today I’m going to show you something extreme sexy; a dangling shoe! What is sexier then a dangling shoe, exposing just a little bit of reinforcing from the stockings? Looking at a gorgeous woman finding that delicate point of balance where nearly all her toe reinforcing is exposed and her shoe remains erect. This IS extremely sexy if she wears RHT (reinforced heel and toe) stockings with a Cuban heel.

To the women:
Some basic rules/how to dangle:

1. Stockings have to have good reinforcing that is visible from afar
2. Shoes have to have a fairly high heel. It does not work with flat shoes.
3. When commencing with the dangle, the shoe must be gently slipped off the heel. Better if you have reinforced heels.
4. Expose the arch of your foot
5. Slip the shoe all the way down to expose a bit of the toe reinforcing. At this point you should have some attention, so start with the shoe-play.
6. Tease badly by dipping and then crossing legs to give a subtle flash of stocking top. Men have to know that you are wearing stockings and not tights.
7. Start again with the other foot.
8. Smile and catch the admirer staring. They will know that you know.

Stockings foot in a dangling shoe

“I think that a lot of women realise what they are doing with their shoe dangling exploits. Starting with that almost subconscious movement as my heel slips gently out of my shoe, the glances I make in my victims direction to see if he is watching, then the more rhythmic movements as my leg sways gently, allowing my foot to slip gently in and out of the shoe. I often do not leave it at the merest dangle; if I feel like I have the extended interest of my victim, then I slip my foot out of my shoe and rub my foot along the calf of my other leg and, if he is sitting close enough to me, making sure that my shoe rubs against his as I place my foot back into it.

“Ah…. what fun commuting can be!”

It’s such a pleasing sight to see these reinforced heels, toes and soles of a delicate female nylon foot, especially in combination with a classic stiletto shoe. What a great fetish that is…..

Why wear stockings? (0 Comments)

I was surfing the net this morning, and I found this interesting theori: :)

“Wearing pantyhose consumes five times more nylon, and produces five times more garbage (by weight) than wearing thigh-highs or regular stockings. Here’s how the numbers work out. A pair of stockings weighs .3 ounce; an average pair of pantyhose weighs four times as much, or 1.2 oz. (This is because the torso portion of pantyhose is double-thickness, and because half (?) the pantyhose sold are control-top types that are even thicker.) Also, a pair of pantyhose is discarded, on average, 25% sooner than a pair of stockings, because it is “done for” when the first leg gets a run. (I.e., with stockings the wearer just replaces the bad leg and goes on wearing the good one.) So a woman who wears a dozen pairs of pantyhose per year would need only 9 pairs of stockings to replace them. Putting this factor together with the greater weight of pantyhose, the bottom line is that a pantyhose-wearer consumes five times more nylon per year.

How much is that in terms of ounces? According to the book “The Average American”, the average career woman buys 22 pairs of pantyhose per year; the average college woman buys 9. Let’s assume the average housewife also buys 9, and thus that the average woman (including all three categories) buys 15 pairs. 15 pairs of pantyhose weigh 18 ounces; their replacement, 11.25 pairs of stockings, weigh 3.375 oz.; the difference is 14.625 ounces per year. (The high-consumption career woman uses roughly 1.5 pounds more per year.) Over the course of a 60-year hose-wearing lifetime (from ages 18 to 78), the difference is thus 877.5 ozs., or roughly 55 pounds. That’s non-biodegradable, non-recyclable waste—and it’s totally unnecessary waste.

The above is slightly offset by the stocking-wearer’s need to consume a garter belt; but that weighs only two oz. and lasts about two or three (?) years, so it creates little waste. (And a new-design garter belt with a replaceable elastic back strap could be made that would last two or three times longer.)

Now let’s scale the figures up to the national level. According to the Hosiery Assn., roughly 340 million pairs of pantyhose were sold in the U.S. in 2001. Assuming about 3/4 of their weight would be saved (after deducting for extra undies) if stockings were worn instead, about 15 million pounds of nylon is wasted thereby. If we were in WW2, the government would prohibit pantyhose for this staggering wastefulness. Well, in a way were are in a struggle—an ecological struggle. We want to reduce needless consumption and garbage production. Pantyhose are a “modern convenience” that costs more than they’re worth.

Incidentally, about 52 million pairs of stockings were sold, about 90% (I’d guess) of them “thigh-highs”—or “holds-ups” as they’re called in the UK. Also, about 193 million pairs of “knee-highs” (“pop-socks” in the UK) were sold.)”

There are a lot of different types of nylons out there… (1 Comment)

…but there are way too few women in this world wearing stockings. Why is this? When you are walking on the streets I think we can all agree that the number of women wearing stockings is not particularly high. Bare legs or trousers seem to be the fashion these days. Women of today are becoming de-feminised, wearing less sexy clothes and attempting to be more like men. When seeing a celebrity they are ALWAYS bare legged, and of course people want to be like them. Eventually, however, even these women will want to feel feminine again, and they will come around. Fashions change. And while this is the 21st century, stockings still sell, even if only to a minority.

My primary intention for this blog is to make a place for nylon lovers and eventually try to get more women wearing nylon stockings or pantyhose. I will start off by giving you a small terminology introduction:

TIGHTS = Pantyhose that go up to the waist
STOCKINGS = Go up to the thigh only
HOLD-UPS = Stockings that stay up with elastic
DROP DOWNS = The straps that are on garter belt
CUBAN HEEL = Reinforced heel on the back of stockings
FF = Fully Fashioned stockings. 100% nylon that doesn’t stretch
RHT = Reinforced heel and toe
FRENCH KNICKERS = Panties in the form of boy shorts with lace
LADDERS = Runs in stockings
SUSPENDERS = Garter belts
BRACES = Suspenders for men
TROUSERS = Pants or slacks
VINTAGE = Old style stockings in original (unopened) packaging

Words of the day:
“Fashion is for followers,
Style is for individuals”

Airline Stewardess (0 Comments)

The best airlines for spotting stockings:
Today’s article will be about those sexy airline stewardesses you can see when you are out flying. I guess we can all agree than when you are flying, you always wish for a sexy young stewardess wearing a short skirt and some sexy nylons. Well, they are defiantly out there, and I have gathered some info on where you can find them. If you know more airlines, please write me an email at luke at nylonsblog dot com! I’ve got some emails, and I here is some of the airlines you better choose the next time you travel.

1. British Airways - Navy blue or black stockings
2. Virgin - Tan stockings
3. British Midland - Old uniform and grey stockings
4. SAS - Tan stockings
5. KLM - Short skirts and glossy tan stockings

Stewardess from British Airlines:
“I am working for BA out of Manchester as cabin crew. And I always wear black stockings for work all the better if you can see the suspender clasps through my tight skirt. I find the male passengers notice this at once and keep looking throughout the flight. I usually rub up against the male passengers when going about my duties. I did try hold-ups but found these would slip down my legs over the length of the flight.”

Stewardess from British Airlines:
“I work at for BA at Heathrow and I can assure you that some of the girls do wear stockings. On a 747 crew of about 17 at least 2 will be wearing stockings. There is bad news on the horizon however, BA is due to change the uniform sometime and in a recent survey conducted amongst the female staff both cabin crew and ground staff made it clear that they wanted to see trousers introduced as part of the uniform. I fully expect BA to agree to their wishes. This will be a very sad state of affairs for all leg lovers. It matters not whether they are stockings or tights either are far preferable than bloody trousers.”
